2016 Bishop & Ordinands in Holy Land

by The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California

The second Bishop & Ordinand Holy Land Pilgrimage, in collaboration with the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, is in full swing. On January 12th, pilgrims from The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, led by the Rev. Canon Andrea McMillin, left California and met the full group in Tel Aviv, before traveling north to the Galilee.

"I want to say again how grateful I am to the Community of the Transfiguration for establishing the Lana Fund, which has underwritten most of the cost of these two pilgrimages (and is in serious need of donations, if there is ever to be a third)," shared Bishop Barry Beisner in his January 2016 Aurora Clergy e-newsletter message. Bishop Beisner also noted that "an anonymous clergy donor" generously donated funds to cover the cost of nearly half of this year's trip. "Our colleagues have given to this effort because the value of direct knowledge and experience of the Holy Land in the formation of clergy is obvious to all who have experienced it," Bishop Beisner further explained. "I hope that you and your congregations might consider a gift to the Lana Fund in 2016. And I ask your prayers for those of us who will be making this next pilgrimage. Please also remember to continue to include prayers for Christians in the Holy Land as a regular part of your intercessions, both personally and in public worship."
