A Pentecost Message From the Bishop

A Pentecost Message From the Bishop

Dear Friends in Christ:

Grace and peace to you.

I hope that the Season of Easter, now ending, has been a time when you have experienced new life in Jesus Christ, our risen and ascended Lord. I hope that the great Fifty Days have shown you the reality of the Resurrection unfolding in our world everywhere that you have happened to look.

Now, with the coming of Pentecost, we are reminded how God has empowered us to be partners in that unfolding. We have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, a gift beyond our ability to ask or imagine. Advocate, Intercessor, Guide, and Comforter; revealing holy Truth; helping us in our weakness; again and again, reminding the Church that to be the Church it must completely depend upon God, and that God can never be managed, controlled, or manipulated by us.

I pray that this Season of Pentecost will be a time when we are renewed in the power of the Spirit, and led more fully into that holy dependency, into a deeper obedience, and a more faithful partnership with God in the divine mission to transform the world. May the Holy Spirit who has begun a good work in you, direct and uphold you in the service of Christ, and of His Kingdom.

Yours in Christ,
