Anniversary Open House & Celebration
by Sandra Lommasson, Executive Director, Bread of Life
We extend a warm invitation to the members of The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California as a wonderful supporter of our Spirit in the Arts program during our recent fire and over the years. Our 15th Anniversary Open House & Celebration on Saturday, October 20, 1-4 PM at 650 El Camino Avenue (view map) will focus on how creative arts move with power for health, connection and healing into our community.
The program and dedication (2 PM) of the Mosaic Mural by our Wednesday Women’s Art Group (click here to view the event flyer and to see a color photo) will be followed by creation of a community fabric art installation along the fence on El Camino where a young man met a violent death last July.
Talia, a high school volunteer working with us that day put a sign on the fence, “Violence kills, art heals. Come on in and do free art.” In this spirit we will weave a visible “flow of hope and connection” that gives witness to a different way of engaging one another.
As a non-profit dedicated to creating community through creativity, collaboration and effective communication we intentionally planted our Spirit in the Arts Center in the North Sacramento neighborhood in 2004 and then moved our entire operation here in 2006. We currently average 500 + visits each month to our free, open arts studio where “hearts open and spirits meet through creative arts.”
We would love to have the people of the diocese come and see the vibrant mission your generosity supports.
