Buildings for a New Tomorrow

Buildings for a New Tomorrow

Episcopal churches around the country are caught between shrinking budgets and the escalating costs of maintaining church buildings. Deferring an important maintenance activity such as a roof replacement can result in extensive collateral damage and turn your beautiful church into a financial burden.

If this is the story of your church you are not alone. In fact, this story has become so prevalent that the Episcopal Church Building Fund will hold the second annual Buildings for a New Tomorrow Symposium April 27 – 29, 2011 in Salt Lake City, UT.

At this conference you will have an opportunity to hear ideas that are being tried in churches and diocese’ around the country to address these issues. Just as important, the conference agenda will provide time for you to network and establish ongoing relationships with others in search of fresh ideas.

I hope you will take a few moments to click on the Episcopal Church Building Fund website at for more details. The Church Response Team has already committed to sending one lay and one clergy representative. I would especially like to encourage you to explore the possibility of sending a lay representative from your congregation to this important conference.

The registration fee is $400 which includes meals and lodging. Airfare from Sacramento is in the $300 - $350 range. If you find that funding is an insurmountable barrier please contact me to discuss the possibility of a grant to help defray costs. We will be especially interested if your intention is to present what you learn at a forum for the churches in your area. You can reach me via e-mail at or 916-442-6918.
