On Saturday, April 30th,  General Convention Deputies from all 6 dioceses in California met at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in Berkeley. It was an opportunity to get to know one another and learn about issues that will be important at General Convention.

There was a presentation from the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music about the Same Gender Blessing Rites that they are putting together for presentation at General Convention. (Pictured below, Ruth Meyers, Chair of the SCLM from the Diocese of Chicago.)

There were breakout sessions on Mission and Ministry, World Mission and the Millennium Development Goals, Title 4, Human Sexuality, and Governance. We ended the day with a presentation about the Anglican Covenant. There was time given to think about resolutions that deputies and dioceses might want to write or sponsor jointly or separately on various issues.

In attendance from our diocese were: Charles Mack, Joyce Patterson, the Rev. Canon Stephen Carpenter, Lisa Sargent, Thea Mangels, Malcolm Mackenzie, the Very Rev. Brian Baker, and the Rev. Ray Hess.
