The Very Rev. W. Mark Richardson, Ph.D., president and dean of Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP), today announced a $750,000 gift to the Episcopal seminary’s endowment.

The gift to the new President’s Opportunity Fund at CDSP provides financial resources for the study of new challenges and new opportunities for theological education and the development of church leadership.

“This generous gift from a long-time friend of the seminary is an encouraging commitment to the future of CDSP and the Episcopal Church,” Richardson said in announcing the gift. The donor wished to remain anonymous.

He said income from the fund will be used to: 1) encourage young people to consider a vocation in church leadership, both lay and ordained; 2) broaden CDSP’s involvement in strengthening current church leadership; and 3) explore the nature of bi-vocational leadership within the church.

“I am deeply grateful to the donor of this fund,” said Richardson. “Through this generous gift, the donor has shown a strong belief in the seminary’s leadership and in the importance of theological education now and well into the future.”
