Sharing Ideas for Serving the Hungry
Co-Sponsored by St John’s, Marysville & Episcopal Community Services (ECS) of Northern California
Food ministries abound within our diocese but for the most part, each congregation goes it alone when it comes to developing policies, designing systems and finding funding and food. This first Food Forum, co-sponsored by St. John’s Marysville and Episcopal Community Services, hopes to be the platform for sharing ideas and best practices. There will be no expert speakers or lectures at this gathering; each key topic on the agenda is meant to be brainstormed by the delegates with the help of peer facilitators. All ideas generated will be recorded and shared with all participants. Each parish is invited to send one or two delegates, who should be closely involved with that church’s food ministry and able to share info on financing, client service policies, food sourcing, etc.
There is no cost for delegates from our diocese. Lunch is included, compliments of ECS, and will feature ingredients/dishes St. John’s provides to its clients through its free lunch and food shelf program. Sign-in and coffee will be available starting at 9am, but the program will begin at 10am, allowing more travel time for those attending from the farther reaches of the diocese. Please register for the conference ASAP, so we can make adequate arrangements.
