Convention FAQs

When is the registration deadline?

General registration ends on September 28, 2018. Those registering after September 28 will incur a late fee of $25.00. Late registration closes October 31, 2018.

Can I register online and pay with a check?

Yes! The online registration form provides the option to pay by invoice and mail in a check. After you complete registration, you will receive a confirmation email from the Eventbrite registration system. This email confirmation is your invoice.

Please print and mail a copy of this email registration confirmation with your check to the Office of the Bishop. Make all checks payable to: EDNC, 350 University Avenue, Suite 280, Sacramento, CA 95825, and please include your registration confirmation number in the memo section of your check.

Why can’t I register more than one person like I did in the past? It’s so easy to just put in the parish email address.

This year, each registrant must register with their own personal email and can only purchase one ticket per order to ensure that we can contact every participant individually if we need to. (i.e. if you didn't fill out a certain form or if we have a question for you, the Office of the Bishop can contact you and reach you directly.) This also ensures that you personally receive a confirmation email of your registration in your inbox and can immediately verify your registration if needed to.

Are all meals included in the registration price?

No. The general registration ticket price only includes lunch on Saturday, November 10. If you decline a lunch, you will not receive a ticket in your name tag indicating that you purchased a lunch, and you will not receive a lunch at the event. You are responsible for your own lunch and dinner on Friday, November 9.

What is Pre-Convention Gathering?

The Pre-Convention Gathering occurs before Convention and provides a chance for clergy and lay people to learn and worship together in community. The topic of these gatherings vary year by year; this year the topic is "Following God's Call: From Church Chores to Ministry."

The event is free, and lunch will be provided. You do not have to attend Diocesan Convention to attend this event. Learn more and register here.

Does completing and submitting our congregation's Certificate of Lay Delegates form count as registration?

No, completing and submitting the Certificate of Lay Delegates form is not the same as registration. Online registration is a separate process that needs to be completed to ensure Diocesan Convention attendance and meals are properly planned.

Where should I eat in Redding?

We've created a list of restaurants that are in close proximity to the Redding Civic Auditorium, which is available here

My registration isn’t going through; who do I need to contact?

First, please double check that you've answered all required questions and have entered a valid form of payment. If you're still having issues with registration, please email, or call Kati Braak at 919-442-6918, ext. 228.

What are Convocations, and why should I go?

Convocation is a meeting that happens by deanery before Diocesan Convention. There you will learn about the nominees for diocesan governess offices and resolutions that will be voted on at convention. The diocesan budget as well as other important deanery business will also be presented. This is an important opportunity to discuss and ask questions about these issues before arriving at convention. Convocations are free and vary in time, place and lunch status according to deanery. You do not have to register; more information will be available closer to the date of Convocations, which are October 20.

How can I tell if I paid for Convention?

You will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite. If you don't receive an email within a few minutes of registering, please check your spam folder. All registrants should receive this email in their inbox, regardless of whether you paid with a card or chose an invoice. You must pay your invoice by the registration deadline, and you are responsible for ensuring that you've paid for your ticket (or in some cases, personally following up with your church to make sure they've paid for you specifically).

I’ve lost my tickets for Convention; what do I do?

You do not need a printed ticket for your admission into Convention. The Office of the Bishop keeps track of who has registered. However, if you get to Convention, and we don't have a record of your registration by mistake, you can pull up your confirmation email.

When is the agenda getting posted for Convention?

At this time we do have a general event schedule available. The full agenda will be available in late October.

Have a question that isn't on this list?
