Diocese Unveils Updated Shield

The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California introduced more than just new staff members at this year's Diocesan Convention. The diocesan shield has undergone a carefully crafted update and the finely polished shield was revealed publicly for the first time.

While the shield shape and elements within remained the same, the words in Latin on the banner encircling the outside have been removed and the English words, “The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California,” have been added. This small but powerful update has been made to help provide a more accessible visual representation of the diocese, increasing levels of hospitality to everyone, whether they are familiar with the Episcopal Church or not. This alteration in wording helps the shield not just represent where the Church came from, but it captures the current state of where the Church is, and embraces the future of where the Church is headed.

This newly updated shield truly captures the essence of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, and we are pleased to share it with you!
