Employee Assistance Program

Employee Assistance Program

by Thea Mangels, Executive Assistant

One way to reduce future costs of health care is by utilizing the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program comes with our medical insurance through the Episcopal Church Medical Trust, and for the first time this year, is available to those who opt out of medical insurance for the low cost of $5 a month.

Behavioral Health Benefit:
One significant way that the EAP can help lower the future cost of health insurance in the Diocese is if employees take advantage of the behavioral health benefit.  The EAP will provide 10 completely free (no copay) counseling sessions for each issue you would like to discuss. CIGNA provides both EAP and behavioral health benefits, and will refer you only to in-network doctors and counselors. This can result in a savings if you need more than 10 sessions for a particular issue.  If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your counselor relationship, CIGNA will provide a different referral.

This behavioral health benefit is tied to diocesan medical insurance. If you do not have medical insurance through the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, the EAP will still allow you access to counseling.
