Enthusiastic CLC in St. Helena

Enthusiastic CLC in St. Helena

by The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California

110 attendees filled Grace Episcopal Church in St. Helena on Saturday, March 7th for the Southwestern Congregational Leadership Conference (CLC). Bishop Barry Beisner and the Rev. Mac McIlmoyl, Rector at Grace, St. Helena, welcomed participants to the day's events and Bishop Beisner introduced the 2015 Bible Challenge, with its focus on reading the Bible as a part of the Daily Office.

Lively discussions about invitational evangelism, congregational identity and purpose were enjoyed during the plenary with the Rev. Canon Andrea McMillin. Attendees shared passion filled stories about their own most memorable invitations, and the aspects of worship services they would want to share with someone who did not have a church. One attendee shared that the Lord’s Prayer was the most significant part of the worship service that they would like to invite people to experience. Another imagined that services like Lessons and Carols would be very inviting for new persons to attend. Pictured above, the room was filled with enthusiastic conversation and sharing during the plenary.

Morning and afternoon workshops also were brimming with thoughtful and engaging conversations, as participants learned more about diocesan communications, disaster preparedness, financial best practices and Bible Study and Church Vitalization.
