Episcopal Community Services Announces the Advent Appeal December 13, 2015

Bishop Barry Beisner has designated the third Sunday in Advent as Episcopal Community Services Sunday. Everyone is invited to participate in the work of ECS by donating to the Ministry Development Fund, which is used to help congregations develop, strengthen and support social outreach and health ministries in their communities. Since the funds are available to all congregations in our diocese, we hope that all congregations will also support this work by participating in this appeal.

ECS has supported the work of ministering to the sick, the homeless, the hungry and poor in The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California for nearly 40 years. As our economy continues to stutter, needs are growing and it is more important than ever for God's people to work together to address the needs of our communities.

For convenience, ECS has created the follow short article that you can publish in your own December newsletters and/or share as an announcement in your Sunday bulletins leading up to December 13th:

Bishop Barry Beisner has designated the third Sunday in Advent as Episcopal Community Services (ECS) Sunday. ECS has supported the work of ministering the the sick, the homeless, the hungry and the needy in The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California for nearly 40 years. Please open your hearts and share the coming joy of Christmas by giving generously to the ECS Ministry Development Fund on December 13th. All funds raised are used to support congregations in their ministry to the least, the lost and the needy in their communities.

Please place your offering in the offering plate marked for ECS or may mail your offering directly to Episcopal Community Services at 350 University Ave. Suite 280, Sacramento,CA 95825-6517. You may also donate online at www.norcalecs.org.

Episcopal Community Services thanks you! Your fellow congregations thank you and, most of all, those helped in so many different ways thank you. May God bless each and every one of you, and may the joy of Christmas be in you hearts and minds this season and throughout the New Year.

The Rev. Lucretia Jevne
President, Episcopal Community Services Board
