On Monday, July 23, 9- 4 at Bread of Life in Sacramento, acclaimed presenter Don Bisson will help us explore from a Jungian and Christian perspective how experiences of betrayal and broken trust can become a breakthrough to new life. Who will find this helpful? People in recovery or on a conscious spiritual path, counselors, therapists, spiritual directors, chaplains and pastors. Need CEU's? This course meets the qualification for 6 hours of continuing education credits for MFT's, LCSW's, LEP's, and LPCC's from the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Bread of Life is Provider # PCE5171. Please bring your own brown bag lunch. Cost: $75 after June 1 for the general public. $95 for CEU's after June 1.
TOPICS FOR OUR TIME INCLUDE:
1.A spirituality of trust and betrayal: how betrayal, as a continual possibility to be lived with, belongs to trust just as doubt belongs to a living faith.
2.Negative outcomes from the Great Broken Trust, including postures that shrink consciousness like obsessive thoughts, feuding, an exclusive focus on the 'shadow' of the betrayer, denial that broken trust has had an impact; cynicism, self-betrayal that includes sabotaging one's own dreams, and a rigid insistence on life or relationships without flaws.
3.Three aspects of psychological work and five spiritual practices that assist with healing trust into a deeper dimension.
4.Some emergent signs in spiritual direction of an invitation to deeper trust.
5.What infatuations can teach us about surrender to God.
6.Two levels of work with attachments - those we are conscious of and the deeper work of surrender of secret attachments.
7.How surrender to God brings us into the world in engagement and service.
