On Saturday, March 3rd a Health Fair was held at Grace Episcopal Church, Fairfield. This church is located in a quiet neighborhood in the city of Fairfield. The Health Fair was open to the community, and quite a few of the neighborhood people did in fact attend. There were also some seniors from a nearby Senior Living Facility who dropped by and were delighted to have this available. Members of Grace Church attended and helped with the Fair.
The vendors consisted of many local community services who provide information and lots of pamphlets, including information from Family First. Another vendor shared information on Lead Poisoning, and a social worker was also available.
Additionally, the following services were available to all:
1. Blood sugar testing with consultation regarding the results
2. Blood pressure screening with consultations
3. Body fat and body mass index (BMI) analysis with consultation
After the testing and consultations, the participant was provided with their numbers along with information regarding the normal results. This was available so the results could be taken to their doctors for follow up as needed.
There was an on-going line for the above services. It was a fun and rewarding day, and a good way to be able to reach out to a community through the Episcopal Church.
