“Light Up the Night” Gala Reflections

“Light Up the Night” Gala Reflections

by the Rev. Dr. Jenni Liem, Vicar, St. Nicholas', Tahoe City; Executive Director, Camp Noel Porter

Wow, can you believe that we finished another Gala?? Time definitely flies! It was wonderful spending the evening with you all in support of Camp Noel Porter. Though events like these take a lot of time and preparation, it was worth seeing congregations from all over the diocese come together to be part of our cause. We could not have done it without our great volunteer crew and our even GREATER sponsors, donors and attendees. Thanks be unto you, and, of course, thanks be to God!

Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty details of the Gala! 117 people were in attendance (Wooo!), with 12 volunteers that worked fervently from the morning until evening to get everything ready on time. There were a good amount of items available for the live and silent auction, so we hope most attendees found something they were interested in bidding on! The ball began rolling once people started pouring in around 5:30 p.m., intermingling with different congregations and visiting our wonderful appetizer table, raffle and drink booths. For our fabulous table sponsors, we would like to acknowledge: St. Michael’s Carmichael; St. Francis', Fair Oaks; Trinity Church, Folsom; The Freeberg Family; The Kerrick Family; Faith, Cameron Park; the Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner and Granite Bay House Doctor. During dinner, the delectable main course and desserts were courtesy of Hannibal Catering. Finally, auctioneer Hunter O’Hair from St. Michael’s, Carmichael livened up the evening by announcing raffle winners and leading the live bidding.

All in all, we “lit up the night” by raising over $15,000 for Camp Noel Porter! Hooray!! Everyone who took part made it such a successful event and we sincerely hope you had a great time getting to know other members within the diocese. Also, a gracious thanks to St. Michael’s, Carmichael for hosting this special event!
