Listening
This convention I am serving as a Legislative Aide for the 08-Social Justice and the US Policy Committee. I like listening to the testimony on the various resolutions. Racism and its effects has been prominent with several resolutions submitted around it. One woman said something that hit me hard and has stayed with me. She pointed out that it is time for white people to take the lead and address white privileges! Yow. That's me. I always worked on the theory that it was the oppressed who were supposed to point out the inequities. I spoke to several deacons who are on the board of AED. I think the deacons need to take leadership in this. Let's make our diocese a leader in this type of education.
I sat in the House of Bishops during the debate on allowing Eucharist Ministers serve pre-consecrated elements on Sunday public worship. Very interesting. The debate revealed some innovative ways to bring communion to isolated congregations. There was some worry about a slippery slope toward lay presidency. It passed.

Pray for peace.
