Living Stones Meets in San Antonio

Living Stones Meets in San Antonio

by Pat Harik, Living Stones Coordinator for The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California and the Rev. Kay Rohde, Ministry Development Coordinator for The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California

The annual Living Stones Meeting was held in San Antonio, TX on February 7-10, 2015. Representing The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California at this year’s very interactive and engaging Living Stones Meeting were: Bishop Barry Beisner; the Rev. Kay Rohde, Ministry Developer for The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California; Gene Marcinkowski, member of Good Shepherd, Cloverdale; and Living Stones Coordinator Pat Harik, member of St. James of Jerusalem, Yuba City.

In addition to the rich discussion of Baptismal Ministry – Evaluation and Reflection (BMER) within our assigned clusters, the Rev. Tom Brackett (Missioner, Church Planting, Ministry Redevelopment and Fresh Expressions of Church at The Episcopal Church Center) facilitated a conversation with the whole group through a few visioning discussions for Living Stones. The Rev. Tom posed questions, using the metaphor of the flow of a river, as it winds and turns and where the water flows over and around rocks, often creating the swirl of an eddy (see photo at right). Small group discussions in a World Café format also provided an opportunity to take the conversations deeper. Collectively we harvested our thoughts, revealing compelling visions for the future, and steps to take courageous and sustaining actions for our future.

The annual gathering of the Living Stones offers partner dioceses a place for gathering to hear how the spirit continues to move us to be “Church” within each of our places. A more detailed report will be offered in an upcoming e-news article.
