Employees and family members covered on the diocesan health plan know that our pharmaceutical coverage comes through a company called Medco. Medco was recently purchased by another pharmacy benefit management company called Express Scripts.
Does this mean I need new cards?
For those on diocesan insurance plans, do not be alarmed. You will not need new prescription drug benefit cards. Your existing Medco cards will continue to work exactly as they have worked in the past. You will be able to order your refills of prescriptions at www.medco.com just as you have in the past, and your doctor can order new prescriptions via fax or phone to the same numbers that he/she used in the past.
So what changes?
From a user perspective, the big change will be in the name. When you log in to www.medco.com, you will start to notice that both "Medco" and "Express Scripts" may appear on the page. Your medications may appear in an envelope from Medco/Express Scripts, or even, eventually, in an envelope from Express Scripts.
