New Thrift Store Stock Daily

by Susanne La Faver, Senior Warden, St. John’s, Lakeport

New stock is arriving daily at the St. John’s, Lakeport Thrift Shop. Christmas decorating just got easier thanks to St. John’s Episcopal Church thrift shop where trees, lights and ornaments are marked at affordable prices so all may prepare for this festive season. The shop is located at N. Forbes Street and Clearlake Ave. in Lakeport. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thrift shop proceeds support St. John's community food programs.

Kelseyville resident Kathy Moorhead, (pictured above at left), and Lakeport resident Janette Steiner (pictured above at right) are long-time thrift shop volunteers. How long? "Since the early 90s," said Kathy, "and my mother-in-law for a 100 years before me! St. John's Thrift Shop has good prices, and it's nice to get out, meet people and do something good for the community." Janette Steiner says "customers tell us this is their favorite thrift shop because it's friendly and fun!"

Tuesday thrift shop volunteers pause from their work for a group photo. Pictured here from the left are Doris Womack of Lakeport, and Eileen Martin and Ron Martin from Kelseyville. “The thrift shop is a super place for holiday decorations and warm clothing,” said thrift store volunteer Doris Womack.
