Nine diocesan partners in health ministries attended the 4th Annual National Episcopal Health Conference (NEHC) at the Mercy Center in Burlingame, CA last month. After the event, one partner shared, “The health ministry conference provided me with an opportunity to meet many committed, caring, health ministers who willingly shared knowledge, stories, and ideas that invigorated my own thinking about how the church can more actively support healthy living.”

Highlights of the conference were the panel presentation on healthcare reform, which included our own Deacon Pamela Moore (pictured above at far right next to Jill Pavka, RN and the Rev. Dr. Joyce Beaulieu); Deacon Phina Borgeson’s presentation on the importance of sustainable food systems; and our own the Rev. Art Lillicrapp’s workshop on “No One Dies Alone” ministry. Other workshops of interest will also be further incorporated into our diocese: Disaster Preparedness; “Rhythms of Grace,” a ministry to the autistic; Ministry to Returning Vets; and a wellness program for congregations called the “Living Compass.”

Nice photo. Would have been nice, since it was in the first paragraph, to name the 9 people who attended so others might ask them to share experiences. It really was a terrific conference! Not sure if it was in the article and cut for space constraints or ??? But just a thought......
