Winter Talk is a gathering of Indigenous Peoples during winter to talk, to tell stories, to share and to learn while the earth is resting. This is an ancient tradition among indigenous peoples. It has been a tradition for the Native American/Indigenous Ministries in The Episcopal Church for a long period of time. It has evolved to include educational and leadership training, workshops, special celebrations and it remains a place where participants can continue to talk, share and expand on their successes and challenges for the future.

Scheduled speakers at the 2015 event are: the Rt. Rev. Lydia Mamakwa (Oji-Cree), the first indigenous female bishop of The Spiritual Ministry of Mishamikoweesh (Kingfisher Lake, Ontario), which is a newly created Indigenous diocese in The Anglican Church of Canada; Louise Aloy (Native Hawaiian), the President of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) in the Diocese of Hawai`i, and President-Elect of the Province VIII ECW starting in June 2015 and Sharon Pasula, Aboriginal Cultural and Educational Helper from the Diocese of Edmonton, Canada.

Please contact the Rev. Lewis Powell, Indigenous Ministries Missioner for The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California for additional information and to register via email at or via phone at 530-432-0165 or 530-575-5067.
