The Russian River Deanery will host its Spring Convocation on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. at the Episcopal Church Of The Incarnation in Santa Rosa. This event is open to the entire diocese and all are invited. Advance registration is encouraged, and required for the Preaching Workshop, and online registration is available here. Lunch will be provided, at a cost of $10.00, which will be collected at the convocation.

2:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Evaluation and dismissal

MORNING WORKSHOPS

Preaching Workshop for Lay Preachers, Part I - the Rev. Linda Clader, St. Paul’s, Healdsburg
Participants will preach short homilies, and the group will offer feedback. Instructor will offer resources and advice for continuing study and practice.Volunteers will have the opportunity to preach 10 min. homilies. Preaching participation in this workshop is limited to the first four registrants.lindaleeclader@gmail.com

Eucharistic Visitor, Part I - the Rev. Donnalee Hart, Deacon, St. Francis', Willits
We will be exploring the history, theology and continuing evolution of this essential ministry, providing resources and practicing hands on, sharing our questions, concerns and insights. This workshop is designed especially for people who are in the process of discerning a call/ preparing for licensing as an EV for the first time. The spiritual refreshment, companionship and updated information of this workshop may appeal to experienced EVs also. Your input is most welcome. Canon Law in the Episcopal Church - the Rev. Rod McAulay, St. Stephen’s, Sebastopol
A review of the Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Church, what they say about institutional governance, authority, theology, the role of the laity and discipline. Building your Congregation’s Team for Children and Youth Ministry - Anne Clark, Lifelong Christian Formation Coordinator, The Episcopal Diocese of Northern CA

Learn about the importance of the CCOM , who should participate, what the guidelines are from the diocese and timelines for folks seeking ordination. I will also include some information about lay ministers, which should also be under the umbrella of the CCOM. Building a Multi-Congregation Community of Practice for Children and Youth Ministry - Anne Clark, Lifelong Christian Formation Coordinator, Episcopal Diocese of Northern CA
We are not in this work alone! We are blessed with networks of congregations (in our deanery, diocese, province, and in our towns) who can collaborate on children and youth ministry. What might that look like in the Russian River Deanery? This workshop will host a conversation about past experiences, possibilities, and plans for the future.
