Slips, trips, and falls don't seem like a big deal, and many times they may not be, but according to CAL/OSHA, they cause 15 percent of all accidental deaths (second only to deaths caused in auto accidents). For this reason, the Office of the Bishop chose to focus on this issue at our January Safety Training.
Many factors can increase the risk of a slip, trip, or fall accident, including poor housekeeping, transition in floor surfaces, loose rugs, open drawers, inappropriate shoes, unsafe ladder use, spills, and inattentive walking.
If you choose to hold a safety meeting on this subject, you can find training tools online such as this quick facts sheet from Washington DC, or this PowerPoint presentation from the state of Washington, or this guide from SAIF Corporation.
