The men of St. John's Episcopal Church in Roseville had a great men's retreat this past weekend.
Led by Fr. Seth Kellermann of Emmanuel in Grass Valley, and organized by the St. John's chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, about 25 men (including two from Emmanuel) got together June 8-10 at Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center for a weekend of teaching, refreshment, fellowship and rest.
The theme of the retreat was "Listening to God", and we spent time together in four sessions, studying scriptures in Samuel, Exodus, Acts and Revelation. Away from the sessions, retreat participants spent time napping, reflecting, gathering in small groups or one-on-one.
Fr. Seth and Fr. Cliff Haggenjos administered the sacrament of reconciliation in the beautiful chapel for individuals who desired it. Fr. Cliff described the sacrament as "going to the cross with a friend."
All in all, it was a blessed time.
