by The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California

Artist and writer Kathrin Burleson has released a new book titled The Soul’s Journey: An Artist’s Approach to the Stations of the Cross. Kathrin is a founding member of Saints Martha and Mary Episcopal Mission in Trinidad, California and is an associate of the Community of the Transfiguration, a religious community for women in The Episcopal Church.

Walk the historic tradition of the Stations of the Cross in new ways. This beautiful coffee table book features Kathrin's paintings, as well as soul-searching reflections on her creative process and spiritual journey. In images, stories and prayers, these stations reflect the Passion of Christ, exploring betrayal, judgment and suffering, but ultimately celebrating the great triumph of life over death, the Resurrection of Christ Jesus.

Each station also offers devotions from key leaders in The Episcopal Church, including the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop, and leaders from The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, including Bishop Barry Beisner and the Rev. Leo M. Joseph, O.S.F.

Kathrin was also a special guest at The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California's 2014 Diocesan Convention. She presented Bishop Beisner a commissioned work of art that was blessed and will travel with him to Hong Kong as he represents The Episcopal Church at the ordination of the Rev. Dr. Timothy Chi-pei Kwok, the newly elected bishop of Eastern Kowloon. Kathrin's icon is a gift from The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California to the new bishop and his diocese.

Kathrin is pictured here with Bishop Beisner after the blessing of the gift.
