Cost to Produce
Prior to publishing a print magazine, the Diocese produced a monthly newspaper, called "The Missionary," which was approximately $1.50 per piece to produce and was delivered to individuals by mail, further adding to the cost both by way of postage and staff time in managing address changes.
Together in Mission, however, despite being full color and printed on a semigloss paper stock, costs just 89 cents per piece to produce. Additionally, the print magazine is now distributed in person at Diocesan Convention, saving on mailing cost. Congregations then share copies with parishioners, local community events, in newcomer packets and more. And if that weren't enough, we have taken additional steps to assure the publication leaves only minimal carbon footprint. Each issue is printed in biodegradable inks on fully recyclable paper, and is posted online for electronic circulation and storage.
