UTO Spring Ingathering

UTO Spring Ingathering

"United Thank Offering - Spring Ingathering"

by Diocesan UTO Coordinator, Mary Ann Renzi

United Thank Offering (UTO) was begun in 1889 by the Episcopal Church to encourage men, women and children to give thanks to God for their daily blessings. The coins that you drop in the Blue “mite” Box, for large and small blessings that have brightened your life and the lives of those around you, quickly become a major source to brighten the lives of others through UTO grants. This year over two million dollars were given in UTO grants to build churches and schools, make needed renovations, feed the hungry, clothe the poor, provide shelter for the homeless, and provide care and support for those with physical, mental and emotional challenges. Specifically, grants were given to offer hunger relief and mentoring programs in Los Angeles, to purchase washers and dryers for homeless families in an interfaith hospitality center in New Hampshire, and, in our own Diocese, to St. Martin’s in Davis to upgrade their Community Outreach kitchen.

The Spring UTO ingathering traditionally takes place on Ascension Sunday which this year is celebrated on May 20th. A more convenient date may be chosen if this date conflicts with your Church’s schedule.
