What’s In a Logo?

Over the last three years, the Episcopal Foundation of Northern California (EFNC) has been rethinking how it can function most effectively for the institutions of the diocese. The Board is now an all-volunteer work force, with one paid part-time staff person to handle administrative coordination. Our focus is to strengthen the financial vitality of local congregations. We wanted a new logo to convey that purpose.

We worked with a talented graphic designer, Geoff Fisher, a parishioner at St. John’s, Roseville. We gave him ideas and he translated them into a variety of images and type faces. All effort was donated for the new logo.

It didn’t take long for the Board to coalesce around a simple seedling, growing out of the “f” (of EFNC). The idea, for us, is to symbolize vibrant life at the local level. The three sprouting leaves (think Trinity!) had to be green, of course, and the other letters are dark blue. Our full name appears under the stylized “roots,” which represent a strong foundation for growth. We think it sends a clean and clear message about how we can help.
