Neighborhood Wellness in Del Paso Heights
The Commission for Intercultural Ministries held a webinar about the Neighborhood Wellness Foundation in Del Paso Heights. The purpose of Neighborhood Wellness (NW) is to lift up a predominately African American neighborhood that was destroyed by the crack cocaine epidemic and the resulting gang activity and mass incarceration during the 1990’s. St. John’s Episcopal Church in Roseville has partnered with NW in their work of overcoming intergenerational trauma, poverty, and systemic racism in their community.
In the webinar Dr. Gina Warren, co-founder and CEO, and Marilyn Woods, co-founder and CFO, give a very interesting overview of the four main Impact Programs of NW, talk about their work in Grant Union High School, and the beginnings of their work at the middle and elementary school levels.

The Commission is a valuable resource for establishing connections with community groups, as well as providing expertise and insights to our efforts. Over the past year, the Commission for Intercultural Ministries has established a working relationship with the State of California’s Racial Equity Commission, to inform our continued efforts to outreach to African American communities in our Diocese.
